PB: Alex Pettyfer Height: 5’ 10” Build: lean, muscled Eye Color: Blue-gray Hair Color: Blond Alec is everything you would expect a Faie to look like, pale and very pretty. His eyes are a perfect mix of blue and gray that reminds you ice when you look into them. When Alec doesn’t smile, his high cheekbones, angular jaw and defined nosebridge makes him look like a beautiful stone angel. His sharp facial features are a part of him that signifies his Montague birth, along with the eye and hair colour. All of the Montague clan have these same features. On the rare occasion that Alec does smile, it is very hard not to be captivated by that sight. Alec is aware that he’s more pretty than handsome, so he compensates by his haphazard style of dressing. Oh Alec can dress nicely (with formal suits like royalty, or dressed to kill with so much as a smile) that’s for sure, but most of the time, he dons jeans, t-shirts and sneakers, leaving his shirt often untucked in places. Alec isn’t particularly bothered with his looks so he can often be seen with tousled and unruly hair, orloose ties. Dishevelled is a polite way of putting it. But what do we know, it seems to be all the rage as a fashion statement amongst the student populace nowadays! He has a tattoo in the shape of a cross on his chest. He got it back when he was around 16 Faie years of age. Frequently, Alec can be spotted smoking on the grounds.

Strengths: Alec is strong-willed and not easily influenced. He sticks by his own beliefs (although he rarely ever forms them). He doesn’t like to form ideas about people based on what others say. On the rare occasion that Alec decides to be nice, he can actually be quite charming. He’s observant and can empathise with people more than he actually wants to. Alec never lies. Ever. Most of the time, Alec is rather easy-going. Alec is always honest, sometimes painfully so. The boy is incapable of lying. Weaknesses: Unwilling to open up to people. He can be painfully honest. Brandishes his sharp wit and sarcasm as a defense mechanism when conversation veers into an area he doesn’t like dwelling on. Usually family-related. Has no idea what he wants to do with his life. Will never actually admit this, but underneathe the tough guy exterior, Alec really could use a friend. Weird Quirks: The cold really gets to Alec. For some reason, he’s really sensitive to it. He spent the better part of his first few years at Idris hiding out in the warmest nooks of the school. Secrets 1. Alec has been disowned by his father. (Although if you’re Faie you would probably have heard of this somehow. Faie circles are small.) As a result, he’s not really welcomed in Faie social circles. 2. Magic has adverse effects on Alec. Small charms don’t really matter, but the more substantial ones, like porting, can cause nausea and giddiness for Alec. 3. Alec has an alias in the mundie world with which he managed to earn himself a small fortune. 4. Prior to his newfound wealth, Alec has had a history of jobs he’s not too pleased/proud about. Likes: swordplay, dancing, dragon racing, blitzball, snow, rain, winter, autumn, sushi, girls, boys, sex, SEX, smoking, a good joke, pranks (on others), blood lollipops, magical creatures, magical disguises Dislikes: herbology and potions, swordplay, bootlickers, people who are full of themselves (because hey, only he is allowed to do that), stereotypes, restraints on him, people who judge others and force their decisions on others, homophobes Alec isn’t what you would call a normal bloke. He’s fully well and capable of being brilliant in sports, and he has more than enough interest in it, but something holds him back from putting his everything in things that he loves, almost as though he’s afraid of getting attached. Alec sometimes seems arrogant, but that’s because people mistake competition where there’s none. Alec is simply confident of himself and unwilling to let other people tell him what’s right or wrong. And his stony silence doesn’t really give him a favourable impression to many others too. Perhaps Alec is also jaded. His past certainly hasn’t been a walk in the park. The cynicism towards life grew, along with the unwillingness to talk about emotions or feelings. Alec is far from quick to anger. He used to be temperamental once, but years of experience helps you realise that anger does nothing and ruins everything. He prefers witticisms and cutting retorts to verbally abuse the offender first. While he’s hardly ever the first one to insult someone, if provoked, Alec has cold anger like ice that can cut. It probably doesn’t help that he’s also painfully honest and able to pick up the things that people hate the most to use again them. He’s not proud of it, but while he doesn’t do it often, he is perfectly capable of doing so if it will keep people off his back. Unsurprisingly, Alec is not the easiest person to befriend. In fact, it’s a wonder he has any friends at all. But Alec isn’t raring to beat up everyone in sight, he’s not cruel. He’s just unnecessarily prickly and defensive sometimes. If someone actually does manage to get beneathe the couldn’t-care-less façade he’s put up, Alec can be a friend for life. Towards anyone he thinks is cute, Alec tends to be a relentless flirt. It’s helped secure his reputation as a player, but Alec never crosses the line. More often than not, Alec doesn’t carry through, especially for girls and more so if he thinks there will be feelings involved. Another reason why he sometimes prefers guys. The aftermath is just easier to deal with.
| History | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Alec was born to Cepheus and Charlisse on a cold September morning in Knightsbridge, England, the ancestral home of the Montague clans, where all with that same name lived. The first ten years of Alec’s life was a happy blur for him. He knows he’s experienced family warmth before, which made all that happened to him later harder to swallow. Cepheus was a figure of authority, one that Alec loved and respected beyond any measure. The man was strict, and uncompromising, but Alec had no reason to be on the receiving end of that sort of treatment before and so he idolised and adored his father. For all of those ten years, Alec monopolised his father’s attention. Having no other siblings at that point, Alec, understandably, grew up as the heir-in-name. The whole clan expected great things from him. Cepheus included. The man taught his only son many things, all of which Alec excelled in: Archery, Swordplay, Horse riding, music (Alec played seven instuments), etc. His parents were proud of him. After his tenth birthday, Alec stopped aging, as all Faie are wont to do. His parents toyed with the idea of getting Alec a sibling. But it wasn’t until past Alec’s 11th Faie year that Elendir was born. Alec adored his little sister and spent a large amount of time with her. As much as he could. For the next four Faie years, Alec continued to live in blissful oblivion. On the night of his 15th birthday, Alec announced to his father that he wanted to go travelling. Although he wasn’t of age yet, Alec knew he wanted to spend some time roaming the world outside, getting to know the places he’d never seen past Knightsbridge. His father agreed that it was a good thing, it would train Alec in ways that wouldn’t be possible if he never left home. Alec had received his invitation from Idris on that same day, but he decided to put it off in order to fulfil this wish of his before he entered the school. In retrospect, maybe if he never left home, Alec wouldn’t have to face so much misery. Alec wandered in various places in Europe. Using his family name’s connections, he was more than able to get himself anything he wanted. But he refrained from doing so. Instead, he tried to live his life as a mundie, only drawing the necessary cash when he absolutely needed it. A little past his 16th Faie year, he met Dominic, a Russian Warlock. Dominic was an oddity to Alec. From two completely different worlds, they got on each other’s nerves with regularity. Yet, Alec was somehow drawn to this stranger. Dominic was often brash, rude and just a tad annoying. Alec couldn’t resist being snarky and sarcastic back at the older boy (who’d just finished his education in idris) He was at the same time in wonder of all the magic that he was capable of doing. And Dom was glad to show off too. One day, too irked by Alec, Dominic hit Alec. That started a full-blown brawl that escalated into a fight and somehow ended up with the both of them kissing each other. Alec hadn’t thought of Dominic in that way before, but the one kiss was enough to blow all his preconceived notions away. He was utterly, and irrevocably attracted to Dominic. Their relationship was nearly dysfunctional. They couldn’t go one day without a squabble, two days without a major fight. But of course, the make-up sex was always bloody fantastic. As Dom put it. But all good things must come to an end. As did this particularly short and sweet five years that Alec shared with Dom. Word got back to Cepheus that his oldest son was gallivanting about with some Russian warlock. Cepheus was beyond furious. He immediately sent for Alec. Not realising his father’s fury, Alec went home for what he thought would be a brief visit. It wasn’t. Cepheus kept Alec locked up in his room, and didn’t allow him out. That was just the first in a long list of things to come. Dom realised what was happening and managed to breach the wards around the manor to rescue Alec. Alec was shocked beyond words that Dom would do that for him. The older boy was never one to express affection. They didn’t manage to go far though. Once Cepheus knew what Dom had done, he’d put a price to the warlock’s head. Given his connections, within a month, his father’s minions had caught up to them. Alec was captured and forced to watch as Dom was tortured, until eventually Alec gave in. He was made to swear a magically binding oath that he would return to the manor and forever be his father’s obedient son, never to see Dominic again. Once he gave that oath, his father killed Dominic. For years Alec was a ghost of his former self, after his return. Elendir was distraught at seeing her brother so unhappy. Charlisse too. Alec slept, walked, did all the duties that he had to do, that the oath forced him to do. But a part of him was gone forever. Knowing that her brother was lost to them, Elendir persuaded her mother to help free Alec from the oath. Charlisse, using her own methods, managed to do just that, but not once did she come to see her wayward son. Alec clearly remembers the night that Elendir came into his room, holding a few small items and telling Alec that he was to leave and never return. Alec kissed her forehead and did as told. It was later announced to the entire Faie clan that Alec had been disowned. Disgraced and exiled from all that he knew, Alec fled. In the following years, Alec survived as a mundie, doing mundie jobs, the lowest paid jobs that required physical labour and some even less mentionable than that. It was a bitter fifty years for him. But by the time he’d had his 17th birthday, he’d managed to work himself up to a credible status with a small fortune of mundie-earned money. Having all the time in the world did that for you. He stayed out of the magical world until he received a second letter from Idris. Remembering all of the good things he’d heard about Idris from Dominic, Alec decided to go. Even if it meant facing the magical world again, at least he’d still be able to learn the part of Dom’s life before he got to know him.
